For this job in Urmston in Manchester, we were tasked with helping design the correct shutter configuration for potential problemetic windows. The customer was requiring Cafe Style Shutters & Shaped Shutters for her problem windows. Unfortunately the customer had been turned down by a number of companies who didnt want to tackle the shape and configuration. Fortunately we fit this type of shutter regulary and we are very happy with the finish. As is the customer, who is over the moon with the finished project.

Finding the Perfect Fit: A Guide to Choosing Shutter Blind Materials
Shutter blinds are a fantastic way to add a touch of timeless elegance and practical functionality to any room. But with so many options available, choosing the right material can feel a bit overwhelming. The good news is, with a little know-how, you can easily find the perfect fit for your home’s style, needs, and budget.
Here’s a quick rundown of the most popular shutter blind materials to help you make an informed decision:
Pros: Nothing beats the warmth and natural beauty of real wood. It’s a classic choice that adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to any space. Wood is also incredibly durable and a great insulator, helping to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It can be stained or painted to match any decor, making it highly versatile. Wood is one of the best materials to work with Cafe Style And Shaped Shutters.
Cons: Real wood can be more expensive than other options. It’s also not ideal for high-humidity areas like bathrooms or kitchens, as moisture can cause it to warp or crack over time. Regular maintenance, such as occasional polishing, might be needed to keep it looking its best.
Pros: If you love the look of wood but need something more resilient, our MDF shutters are an excellent alternative. Made from engineered materials, they are highly resistant to moisture, humidity, and warping. This makes them the perfect choice for bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas where real wood isn’t suitable. They are also often more affordable and easier to clean than real wood.
Cons: While they do a great job of mimicking the look of wood, they can sometimes lack the unique grain and texture of the real thing. Some people may also prefer the feel and weight of natural wood.
Pros: These lightweight shutters are the most budget-friendly option and are incredibly practical. They are completely waterproof, making them a fantastic choice for any room, especially those with high moisture levels. They are also low-maintenance, easy to clean, and highly durable. Their light weight makes them a great option for larger windows.
Cons: PVC and Vinyl shutters may not offer the same level of insulation as wood. While they can be made to look good, they may not have the same luxurious feel or aesthetic appeal as natural or faux wood. Cannot be made to fit Cafe Style And Shaped Shutters windows.
4. Aluminium: Modern, Sleek, and Durable
Pros: For a sleek, modern, and industrial look, aluminium shutters are a great choice. They are extremely durable, lightweight, and resistant to rust and corrosion, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. They are also a great option for security shutters.
Cons: Aluminium shutters may not offer the same insulating properties as wood. The aesthetic is very specific, so they might not be the right fit for a more traditional or classic home decor.
Making Your Final Decision
To choose the right material for your shutter blinds, consider these key questions:
BUDGET – What is your budget? This will help you narrow down your options from the start.
ENVIRONMENT – What is the room’s environment? Is it a dry living room, a humid bathroom, or a kitchen with a lot of steam?
AESHETICS – What is your desired aesthetic? Are you going for a classic, traditional look or a modern, minimalist feel?
How much maintenance are you willing to do? Do you prefer a low-maintenance option or are you happy to care for real wood?
By answering these questions, you can confidently select a material that will not only look stunning but also stand the test of time, giving you beautiful and functional shutter blinds for years to come.
